The EPS (Polystyrene) compacter is a machine to reduce the size of expanded polystyrene foam and expanded polypropylene foam for easier transport.

The EPS (Polystyrene) compacter is widely used in the installations of food working, electronic factories, warehouses of white goods and black ones, and supermarkets.
EPS (Polystyrene) compacter make it advantageous for municipalities and EPS (Polystyrene) recycling activities.
The EPS (Polystyrene) cold compacter is designed with the principle of auger compaction.
The machine operator puts the used EPS (Styrofoam) blocks in the hopper.
The knives in the machine will shred EPS (Polystyrene) foam blocks in smaller flakes.
EPS (Polystyrene) recycling
The EPS can be reused and therefore recycled.
It can be milled in small particles and can fill again foam products, it can be milled in powder and be used as fill-in in concrete, it can be dissolved to make adhesives, and can be compacted and dissolved again to make PS pellets for applications of PS profiles and injection-shaped parts.
Since collecting and transport of EPS waste hasn’t been so efficent because of its light weight, it takes compaction to reduce the size of EPS waste before transporting it to recycle and reuse services.
What’s EPS (Polystyrene) foam.
Polystyrene (PS) and expanded polystyrene (EPS), commonly known as plastic foam or Styrofoam, are made by not-renewable oil-based chemical products.
The PS is light, hygienic and commonly used to pack food, drinks, fragile and deformable goods.
EPS products are usually 98% air and only 2% PS.

The EPS, called also polystyrene foam, is used all over the worls to pack and to transport seafood, vegetables, and electronic applications in efficient and hygienic way, besides any type of delicate product.

These foam packing materials inevitably end in waste after their use.
How does the EPS (Polystyrene) Compacter work:
Throw EPS (polystyrene) waste in the hopper of the machine.
The pre-demolisher breaks polystyrene waste in smaller flakes of size from 20 mm. to 50 mm.
An auger compacter under the pre-demolisher presses polystyrene waste in compact blocks.
Pile up blocks on pallets.
The result is 7 kg/m³ of densified waste up to 400 kg/m³ in blocks.
Our presses compact your blocks of packages of EPS (polystyrene) foam waste, EPS (polystyrene) boxes for fish, and EPS (polystyrene) foam boards to the absolute minimum, up to a reduction from 50 to 1.
By this important volume reduction, the compcted EPS (polystyrene) will take much less storage space, and will produce blocks that facilitate transport and handling.
This means a great cost saving and a higher remaining value of waste.
This screw compacter can densify (polystyrene) foam up to 400 kg/m³
Though it’s a less compaction compared with the briquetting press, the auger compacter is much less expensive, as well as the operative cost.
Compared with the melted extrusion densifier, the auger compacter avoids thermical deterioration and holding of material viscosity, creates a great energy saving, doesn’t cause odours, and is suitable for loading/unloading operations.
